Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were presented to the Dortmund fans on the weekend, 6 July, before the team faced Sat.1 Allstars at the Signal Iduna Park. The first home game of the season saw a massive 49,500 turn up even with the 25,000 capacity Südtribüne/South stand closed for maintenance. The Sat.1 side consisted of celebrities and amateurs, with goalkeepers Simon Jentzsch and Patrick Weigl.

Dortmund took the lead in the opening minute with a header from Schieber, but the Allstars pulled one back with a goal from amateur Saki to make it 1-1. It didn’t last long though and BVB went on to win the game 9-1, with the Allstars celebrating that it wasn’t double figures. It wasn’t all in vain though as more than €170,000 was raised for the flood victims who lost their homes.

Both of the new recruits expressed their delight and surprise at the BVB support. Aubameyang who wants to be known as ‘Aubame” (pronounced ‘Oh-ba-me’), said “Dortmund are a great team that made it to the Champions League final. I hope I will improve here.” He has already started to form a bond with the fans after actively tweeting about his arrival and re-tweeting fan photos of his introduction on Saturday.

The other new signing, and BVBs first of the season, Sokratis said, “I´m ready to give 100 percent for the club. Everything´s perfect here. The fans are something very special. I will start training tomorrow with two sessions.” He will most likely start the season at RB as Piszczek is still recovering from a hip operation.
